Patron mode is the default mode in which the device is normally used. In Patron mode, the device can be used to return items by patrons. The device is constantly scanning the shelves looking for new items, and when it finds any they are displayed on the screen. Once the patron has completed returning books, he can either just walk away and the session will be terminated after a few seconds, or press a button on screen to get a receipt.
