The unit needs a SIP connection to work. It is possible to operate the unit in offline mode, but it is meant to be used only temporarily should the connection break.

The device will only be able to display item identifiers on screen and on receipts, during offline situations. After it gets a connection again, it will then send those item identifiers as check in messages to the library system automatically.
